Iru restaurant
A Legacy
of Flavors
going back more than 75 years
Welcome to IRU, a restaurant serving quality Mediterranean cuisine founded in 1944 and run by the Escandell family ever since. From its humble origins as an orchestral café, IRU has evolved to become one of the most outstanding restaurants in Puerto de Pollença.
A History of Evolution and Tradition
that goes back over 75 years
The restaurant was originally called “El Bilbaíno”, but changed its name to IRU in 1954. For several decades, the restaurant was popular, serving international cuisine, until 2001, when it underwent a further refurbishment that brought IRU to its current essence as a restaurant serving quality Mediterranean cuisine. The name “IRU” refers to the fact that it was part of a group of three bars run by three members of the family, and it was located at number 111 on the former Passeig Anglada Camarassa, symbolising the number three.
